Akaysha Energy — BESS Advisory & Delivery Support

Akaysha Energy engaged PARX Projects as part of its BESS Pilot Program to strengthen early-stage development, execution readiness, and delivery governance for multiple grid-scale battery projects. Our role focused on building the foundations for successful deployment by improving feasibility discipline, regulatory compliance pathways, contracting clarity, and technical assurance across the pilot portfolio. Our involvement supported Akaysha Energy in accelerating program maturity, improving decision-making confidence, and establishing repeatable delivery structures for future large-scale battery storage assets.

Project Overview

Akaysha Energy is expanding its position as a leading Australian developer of grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems. As part of this growth, the organisation initiated a structured Pilot Program to validate delivery practices, strengthen governance, and ensure project readiness before full portfolio rollout.

PARX Projects was engaged to provide targeted advisory support across development, permitting, contracting, and execution preparation. Our contribution centred on improving the robustness of project inputs, eliminating early-stage ambiguity, and aligning pilot activities with commercial, technical, and regulatory expectations.

Key Pilot Program Challenges

  1. Feasibility and site readiness
Projects required consistent, repeatable methods to evaluate grid location suitability, early risks, and technical constraints.

  2. Permitting and compliance complexity
BESS projects sit across multiple legislative and environmental pathways, requiring structured coordination with authorities and stakeholders.

  3. Technical definition and design clarity
Early design packages needed improved discipline around performance requirements, interfaces, and battery system configurations.

  4. Delivery governance and schedule risk
Pilot projects required a more predictable planning structure to control timeline exposure and manage interdependent regulatory milestones.

PARX Projects’ Contribution

1. Feasibility Validation & Early-Stage Development

We strengthened the early development phase by introducing structured, evidence-based feasibility assessments across the pilot portfolio.

Activities included:
• Reviewing site constraints, grid connectivity pathways, and preliminary technical inputs.
• Identifying early risks (land, access, constructability, environmental, grid).
• Recommending mitigation strategies and “go/no-go” criteria to support decision clarity.
• Aligning feasibility work with Akaysha’s commercial models and investment thresholds.

2. Permitting, Environmental & Compliance Assurance

We supported the permitting workstream by improving regulatory alignment and ensuring documentation met compliance expectations.

Activities included:
• Completing critical issues analyses for environmental risks and approval pathways.
• Supporting preparation and refinement of permitting documentation.
• Providing recommendations on sequencing, regulator engagement, and risk mitigation.
• Coordinating inputs across technical, environmental, and planning consultants.

3. Technical & System Definition Support

We provided guidance to strengthen design clarity and system requirements within the pilot program.

Activities included:
• Reviewing early design and system configuration assumptions.
• Ensuring alignment between commercial objectives, engineering packages, and battery OEM expectations.
• Advising on performance, safety, and operational readiness requirements.
• Supporting integration considerations across civil, electrical, and grid-connection workstreams.

4. Program Planning, Contracting & Delivery Governance

We reinforced delivery discipline by improving governance structures and execution readiness.

Activities included:
• Establishing clearer sequencing across development, permitting, contracting, and delivery.
• Reviewing schedule logic, risk exposure, and interface dependencies.
• Supporting preparation of contracting strategies and scope alignment for pilot packages.
• Providing practical guidance on delivery risks, stakeholder obligations, and handover requirements.

Key Outcomes

Improved delivery readiness — Better-structured pilot documentation enabled clearer decision-making and reduced ambiguity across workstreams.
Regulatory alignment — Stronger environmental and planning pathways reduced compliance uncertainty.
Technical clarity — Early design reviews improved system definition and positioned projects for efficient tendering and execution.
Risk visibility — Early risk identification helped Akaysha Energy prioritise focus areas and mitigate exposure during development.
Program foundations established — The pilot program created repeatable structures that support Akaysha’s long-term BESS portfolio strategy.

Conclusion

Our involvement in the Akaysha Energy BESS Pilot Program demonstrates PARX Projects’ capability in strengthening early-stage development, delivery governance, and execution readiness for grid-scale battery projects. By combining technical insight, regulatory knowledge, and structured program delivery methods, we helped establish clear pathways for Akaysha’s future large-scale BESS deployments.

This work reflects our commitment to improving project certainty and supporting Australia’s transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy system.
